Tara E. Tracy, PhD.
Co-founder and Chair of Scientific Advisory Board
Dr. Tracy is the co-founder and the Chair of Scientific Advisory Board of EngramBio. She is also an Associate Professor at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and she is the inventor of the CT-KIBRA peptide, which forms the scientific foundation of EngramBio’s lead therapeutic program. Dr. Tracy is a neuroscientist with a strong track record of high impact publications in journals such as Nature Medicine, Cell, Neuron, Nature Neuroscience, Molecular Neurodegeneration and Journal of Clinical Investigation. Her work has defined how toxic mechanisms drive synapse dysfunction and memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, directly shaping new therapeutic strategies focused on synapse repair. She earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California, Berkeley and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Gladstone Institutes and the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Tracy is a recipient of the McKnight Brain Research Foundation Innovator Award in 2022 and was named a Next Generation Bay Area Biotech Superstar in 2024.
